Role: Technical Operator
Department: Production
Reports to: Operations Manager
1st shift- 6:30a.m.-3:00p.m.
Summary: Responsible for running and troubleshooting the machines, as necessary to optimize production output with quality product. Execute change overs as well as troubleshooting. Communicate with maintenance on issues and improvement projects.
Key Role Objectives & Responsibilities:
· General operation of the Valve and BOV machines.
· Reviewing and rectifying machine faults at technical level focusing on minor stops to minimize machine down time.
· Support maintenance for major break downs.
· Routine preventative and planned maintenance tasks & technical cleaning of equipment.
· Perform quality control according to Batch Record requirements to ensure products conform to customer specifications.
· Preventative/reactive maintenance of Valve and BOV machines.
· Cover for Technicians and Operators in their absence.
· Any other reasonable request made by a Managing Director, Operations Manager, or Supervisor.
· Maintain high standards of Safety practices and adhere to housekeeping procedures.
· Train on any future lines that the business implements.
· Work with the Quality Department, Maintenance and HR in training future Technical Operators.
· Check working conditions periodically by utilizing measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
· Understand and advise on drawings.
· Perform routine troubleshooting machine as needed.
· Record adjustments and changeovers made in the Maintenance Book for the relevant machine.
· Report machine issues to the Maintenance Technician.
· Ensure safety protocols, policies, and procedures are being followed.
· Lead and implement a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and positive motivation to the team.
· Keep maintenance cabinets clean and orderly.
· Follow environmental compliance guidelines, ensuring proper handling, usage, and disposal of materials, including chemicals and lubricants, per company and regulatory requirements.
· Adhere to waste reduction and recycling procedures to minimize environmental impact.
· Properly store and use approved chemicals, such as silicone sprays, following environmental and safety protocols.
· Report any environmental concerns, such as leaks, spills, or improper material usage, to the Quality and Safety Manager.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills/Education:
· Must pass Technical Operator Training.
· Minimum 2 years’ manufacturing experience as a machine operator.
· Minimum 1 year experience performing basic quality control procedures.
· Minimum 1 year working as a maintenance technician (preferred).
· Knowledge in utilizing measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers.
· Basic mathematical knowledge.
· Must be able to effectively communicate with other production associates and supervisors.
· Must be at least 18 years old.
Essential Functions:
· This position requires movement in different positions in tight and confined spaces; however, some tasks may be in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
· Frequently communicates with other associates to exchange information regarding machine maintenance, material requests, and quality control.
· Must be able to inspect products to detect defects by utilizing measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges and comparing them to the drawing.
· Must be able to occasionally move pallets, boxes with products or components, machine parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to write information relating to production/product/quality onto documentation following good manufacturing practices.
