Washington, DC (preferred) | Chicago, IL | New York, NY

Direct Counsel is partnering with a leading national law firm to identify an Associate Attorney with 2–6 years of experience to join its Health Care & Life Sciences practice. While the role is open in Washington, DC, Chicago, and New York, the firm has a strong preference for candidates based in Washington, DC.

This is an opportunity to work with a respected team advising health care providers, life sciences companies, and related industry stakeholders on complex regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on federal and state health care regulatory matters, including fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement, licensing, HIPAA, and compliance

  • Support transactional matters involving mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and affiliations in the health care and life sciences sectors

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements and regulatory filings

  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic guidance to clients navigating evolving regulations

  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on high-impact industry matters

Qualifications:

  • 2–6 years of relevant experience in health care or life sciences law

  • Familiarity with federal and state regulatory regimes (e.g., Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, FDA, CMS)

  • Transactional and/or compliance experience preferred

  • Strong research, drafting, and communication skills

  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction or eligibility to obtain

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $235,000 – $390,000, depending on experience and location
