Direct Counsel is seeking a Records Clerk to join a well-established, full-service law firm with offices across California. This is a full-time role based in the firm’s Sacramento office, offering the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and professional environment where individual contributions are valued.
The Opportunity
The Records Clerk will support the firm’s Records Department by maintaining both physical and electronic files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities

Collect, organize, and maintain loose filing and physical records.

Run conflict checks and compile reports for attorney review.

Assist with opening new matters in the client intake system and ensure accurate entry of information.

Manage records in off-site storage, including organization, retrieval, and inventory.

Assist with the filing, upkeep, and retrieval of electronic documents.

Handle incoming and outgoing file transfers, as well as copying and scanning requests.

Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage and track records.

Provide support for attorneys and staff while maintaining high-quality client service.
Qualifications

High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred.

2–4 years of administrative or law firm experience.

Prior records management experience in a legal setting preferred.

Strong organizational skills with mastery of alphabetical, numerical, and chronological sequencing.

Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Compensation
-
Salary range: $40,000–$45,000
