Position Title: Quality Engineer

Scope & Responsibilities of Quality Engineer: (Not limited to)

  • Develops and maintains Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and control plans for production lines.
  • Maintains the fill point manual with regards to customer requirements.
  • Leads root cause analysis investigations to address sub-quality performance of equipment &/or personnel.
  • Develop action plans aimed to prevent and resolve customer and quality issues.
  • Initiates cost saving projects and guides business toward growth and operational efficiency.
  • Serves as an internal ISO auditor to troubleshoot and resolve process deviations.
  • Controls, develops, and trains personnel on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all Blending & Packaging departments and operations.
  • Assists Maintenance Technicians in process and equipment improvements.
  • Acts as a back-up for key production planning or supervision roles as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

Education & Experience for Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with three (3) years of experience in manufacturing environment required.
  • Five (5+) years background in Process Quality or Continuous Improvement preferred; Six Sigma Green Belt certification desired with thorough understanding of ISO Quality Standards.
  • Experience with packaging equipment, including but not limited to fillers, box erectors, palletizers, auto-packers etc.
  • Prior service in supervisory or leadership capacity.

Other Qualifications of Quality Engineer:

  • Adept at writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training personnel in accordance with standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in problem solving methodologies and Quality Core Tools; capable of developing FMEA’s, control plans and value stream mapping techniques.
  • Leverages interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to a promote an effective working environment.
  • Utilizes Project Management principles to communicate and advance quality and production improvement plans &/or ideas.
  • Utilizes statistical process control and process capability analysis to determine trends in production.
  • Leads teams of employees/colleagues in Kaizens, 5S events, and developing visual factory.
  • Pursues personal development and works to continuously expand skill sets driving both personal and business growth.
  • Demonstrates various individual contributor and core competencies such as effective written/oral communication skills, collaborative work style, results-oriented with a sense of urgency, strong decision-making abilities,
  • Possesses interpersonal savvy and top-notch negotiation skills to positively influence supplier &/or customer relationships.
  • Other key competencies include presenting an ethical and professional persona which promotes positive change in a proactive and organized fashion.
  • Successful completion of all company mandated &/or job-related training programs deemed appropriate.

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Quality Engineer:

  • COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently, independent judgments, work with a team, communicating, reading comprehension, critical thinking/troubleshooting.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, sitting, walk/climb, stand/reach, listen, writing, driving, keyboarding, Working in extreme heat/cold. Push/pull/lift/carry 35 pounds.
