Reinsurance Attorney

Job Description

We represent a fast-growing international insurance company based in New York looking to hire an attorney with 7 plus years of experience in insurance and reinsurance matters. The successful candidate will support reinsurance operations by providing expert legal advice with a focus on drafting and negotiating reinsurance and associated agreements, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal counsel and support on insurance and reinsurance matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating reinsurance contracts and related agreements.
• Advise on regulatory compliance issues related to reinsurance and underwriting activities.
• Assist in the resolution of reinsurance disputes, including managing litigation and arbitration processes.
• Support the development and implementation of corporate reinsurance policies and procedures.
• Review and advise on reinsurance-related documentation and transactions.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal and regulatory issues related to reinsurance.
• Assist in corporate governance and risk management activities as they pertain to reinsurance.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
• 7 plus years of relevant legal experience in reinsurance with a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
• Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating reinsurance agreements and contracts.
