Title: Residential Manager

Reports To: Program Manager

Summary

The Residential Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the assigned residential program. This includes ensuring implementation of procedures and individualized training programs that promote participants' independence. The Residential Manager is also expected to remain available to support residential staff outside of scheduled on-site hours.

Essential Functions Professional Conduct

  1. Adheres to policies that respect the human and civil rights of participants and staff.
  2. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with participants and staff; maintains availability for a flexible schedule across a 7-day week.
  3. Effectively communicates complex information both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.

Resident Supervision & Program Management

  1. Provides or ensures on-site training for Direct Support Professionals.
  2. Ensures staff assist and support participants in completing daily and weekly chores.
  3. Confirms participants have appropriate personal items, including clothing and hygiene supplies.
  4. Provides resources for staff to plan and facilitate leisure activities.
  5. Dispenses medications in accordance with medication administration regulations.
  6. Provides minor counseling support to participants; refers more serious concerns to the Program Manager.
  7. Oversees the completion of all required program documentation, ensures staff are properly trained, and verifies accurate usage in line with policies.

Habilitation Program Responsibilities

  1. Collaborates with direct support staff to identify participant needs and develop goals for the Individual Plan (IP).
  2. Assists in writing and implementing teaching strategies for participants.
  3. Acquires necessary teaching materials.
  4. Oversees the development and completion of the IP.
  5. Attends participants' annual IP meetings in person.
  6. Ensures participants have the opportunity to attend their IP and quarterly review meetings.
  7. Monitors implementation of teaching programs based on IP goals.
  8. Reports on participants' progress and medical concerns in writing and at quarterly reviews.
  9. Supports the Behaviorist in developing behavior plans and monitors their implementation.
  10. Ensures staff carry out behavior programs in accordance with Behaviorist guidance.
  11. Collaborates with the Nurse and Behaviorist to complete Program Review Packets.
  12. Ensures proper use of restraint procedures in line with Behavior Policy.
  13. Promotes participant self-advocacy and protection of human and civil rights.

Medical Service Coordination

  1. Secures necessary physicians and medical providers for participants.
  2. Acts as liaison between physicians and participants, ensuring:
    • Timely scheduling of medical appointments (e.g., physicals, dental, psychiatric care).
    • Reporting of medical issues to the Nurse and/or physicians.
    • Participant support during medical appointments.
    • Implementation of treatment plans as prescribed.
    • Attendance at psychiatric appointments as needed.

Medication Administration

  1. Maintains accurate medical records per licensing standards.
  2. Keeps first aid supplies fully stocked.
  3. Reviews participants' medical needs with the Nurse and Direct Support Professionals.
  4. Oversees proper medication administration, ensuring:
    • Timely access to medications.
    • Accurate dispensing of prescribed medications.
    • Timely ordering of medication to prevent lapses in treatment.

Staff Supervision

  1. Supervises, trains, and mentors on-site Direct Support Professionals.
  2. Participates in hiring decisions and implements disciplinary actions with Program Manager approval.
  3. Coordinates staff orientation and required training.
  4. Leads regular staff supervision meetings.
  5. Oversees all daily operational activities of the residence.
  6. Ensures proper documentation of nursing, medication, and behavior-related tasks.
  7. Maintains open communication with all program staff.
  8. Remains on duty until staff coverage is secured or supervision is no longer needed.
  9. Implements and trains on safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  10. Maintains household records and supplies.
  11. Provides or coordinates transportation for participants as needed.
  12. Participates in 24-hour on-call rotation as required.
  13. Attends meetings and trainings as assigned.
  14. Reports operational issues and recommends improvements to the Program Manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Must complete PMT certification within 6 months of hire.
  2. Must complete all required Residential Training within 90 days of hire.
  3. Must be physically capable of administering CPR and performing restraints safely.
  4. Possess a valid State of Connecticut driver's license.
  5. Reports maintenance needs promptly to the Program Supervisor.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
