Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 3 years of recent ICU experience and strong neuro or CV skills for a Level 1 trauma center assignment.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital ICU setting
  • Covers surgical, medical, neuro, and cardiac ICU units with floating between all three ICUs as needed
  • Patient population includes trauma, neuro-surgical, cardiac surgical, and critical medical patients over age 15
  • Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:1
  • No monitor techs; RNs are responsible for cardiac rhythm interpretation using GE monitors
  • Specialized equipment includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s BiPAP, and Airvo respiratory devices
  • EMR is Cerner; previous experience preferred
  • Self-scheduling with manager balancing for unit needs
  • Required to work 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule; weekends vary by shift type
  • Must float to tele as needed with patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts
  • No on-call or standby requirements, though potential for low census up to three times per contract
  • Responsible for titrating a wide variety of drips including propofol, fentanyl, versed, vasopressors, and more
  • Direct care for trauma, neurosurgical, cardiac surgery, post-cath, ECMO, sepsis, ARDS, and other complex critical care cases
  • Work in a collaborative team with 24/7 in-house hospitalist/intensivist and RT support
  • First-time travelers are welcome with required experience
  • Scrub color for the unit is navy
  • Expect to float to sister facility ICU units and telemetry units as needed
  • Holiday assignments may allow for only one holiday off per contract
  • 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license at time of submission (pending not accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required, with neuro or CV experience
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all must be active at time of submission)
  • Must pass hospital dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours before acceptance (max 2 attempts)
  • Must pass a sterile technique skills assessment on Day 1 of orientation
  • Must provide two professional references, one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Must meet a 50-mile permanent residence radius requirement and not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year
