What is a Direct Support Professional (DSP)? As a DSP, you will assist the people we support with daily living activities, including personal care, household tasks, community outings, and implementation of their individualized support plans. Your role is essential in ensuring the health, safety, and overall well-being of the persons supported.
 
Responsibilities as a DSP:
<ul>
<li>Assist persons supported with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene</li>
<li>Support with meal prep, grocery shopping, and household tasks</li>
<li>Administer medications per agency policy</li>
<li>Follow the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and document daily progress</li>
<li>Encourage community participation and meaningful daily choices</li>
<li>Attend appointments, outings, and coordinate activities</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors</li>
<li>Help plan and facilitate activities based on personal interests</li>
<li>Support community outings, family visits, and local events</li>
<li>Encourage active engagement in the community</li>
<li>Maintain daily notes, behavior data, and medication logs</li>
<li>Communicate updates and concerns to the Residential Manager and team</li>
</ul>

Requirements:
Experience / Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>PHS and Therap experience preferred</li>
<li>Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred</li>
<li>High School Diploma or GED preferred</li>
<li>Valid TN, KY, or AL driver’s license (military exemptions available)</li>
<li>Ability to read and follow directives (required)</li>
<li>Effective written communication skills (required)</li>
<li>Satisfactory criminal background check (required)</li>
<li>Negative drug test (required)</li>
<li>Clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) (required)</li>
<li>Ability to attend and pass all required training (required)</li>
<li>TB test within the last 12 months (provided if needed upon hire)</li>
</ul>
Physical Demands:
<ul>
<li>Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs or more</li>
<li>Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching</li>
<li>Driving is required</li>
