Duties:
<ul>
<li>Conduct onsite construction observation and testing services including nuclear gauge field density testing, concrete sampling, earthwork operations, and foundation installations.</li>
<li>Work outdoors in all weather conditions.</li>
<li>Review and interpret construction plans and specifications. </li>
<li>Perform laboratory testing.</li>
<li>Plan, schedule, conduct geotechnical field investigations.</li>
<li>Prepare boring logs. </li>
<li>Prepare written reports.</li>
<li>Working directly with and managing sub-consultants.</li>
<li>Work responsibly, safely and in a manner that reflects well upon the firm. </li>
</ul>
Education/Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline (geology, construction management, etc.).</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication.</li>
<li>Valid CA driver’s license and good driving record.</li>
</ul>

Certifications/Licenses:
<ul>
<li>Driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record</li>
<li>Engineer-In Training (EIT)</li>
<li>Working towards obtaining professional license</li>

Your Day-to-Day:

What You Bring: 
<ul>
<li>A Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a related field</li>
<li>0-2 years of experience in geotechnical or geological projects</li>
<li>An Engineer in Training (EIT) or Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, a plus</li>
<li>A strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD</li>
<li>A passion for Geology and Geotechnical Solutions with a strong interest in field and analytical work</li>

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

<li>Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions</li>
<li>Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day</li>
<li>Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)</li>

We are currently seeking a geotechnical engineer, P.E., to join our team in Hagerstown, MD and participate in a wide variety of geotechnical, testing and monitoring related projects. Projects are primarily located in Washington/Frederick/Allegany/Cumberland, MD area. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other HCEA offices throughout the company. 
General Responsibilities:

<li>Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.</li>
